Jayraj Patil is an architect, filmmaker, designer, and material researcher whose practice explores the relationship between people, place, memory, and the built environment. Working across architecture, documentary cinema, installation art, woodworking, and digital media, he creates experiences that invite audiences to observe the familiar through new perspectives.

Driven by curiosity, his work draws from ecology, anthropology, vernacular knowledge, and the sculptural qualities of materials. Whether documenting disappearing cultural traditions, designing immersive spatial installations, researching circular materials, or crafting objects by hand, each project begins with careful observation and evolves through experimentation.

His practice spans feature documentaries, stop-motion films, virtual reality experiences, public installations, furniture and lighting design, branding, and material innovation. Recent work includes immersive visual installations addressing coastal erosion, research into bamboo and recycled composite materials, collaborative projects with women-led enterprises, and handcrafted lighting and furniture built from reclaimed materials.

Rather than working within a single discipline, Jayraj treats design as a way of thinking. Every project becomes an opportunity to connect storytelling with making, combining analytical research with intuition, technology with craftsmanship, and local narratives with contemporary forms.
