Developed as a material research initiative, this project explores the potential of combining bamboo with Multi-Layered Plastic (MLP) waste to create durable, functional, and visually distinctive products. By transforming a difficult-to-recycle waste stream into a valuable resource, the material brings together natural renewable fibres and reclaimed plastics in a single composite.
The project investigates sustainable alternatives for furniture, interiors, and product applications while generating livelihood opportunities through local craftsmanship and decentralized manufacturing. The resulting material celebrates the unique textures and imperfections of both bamboo and recycled plastic, demonstrating how waste can be reimagined as a resource for design and innovation.
